Anger Costs - The Making of a Radio Program
For 13 Sundays, beginning January 21, the Anger Clinic broadcasts each week a call-in talk program "Anger Costs" on 105.9 WCKG FREE FM radio. The (half-hour) programs will start at 4:30 pm. Each program concentrates on a different anger topic. Aaron Karmin, LCPC, one of the counselors at the Anger Clinic will host Anger Costs weekly. He will be with founder of the Anger Clinic, Mitch Messer, Jordon Levin, Psy. D., and Joe Mucka, Anger Coach. We will also have guests periodically during the 13 weeks. March 4, Mitch Messer officially retired from the Anger Clinic and no longer be a part of Anger Costs.
The Anger Clinic will be basing all of "Anger Costs" topics in Mitch's writing, either from his wide selection of articles or from his books about anger and its consequences, and how to overcome them. The articles will be available on the Anger Clinic web site (www.angerclinic.com) the week before the broadcast (for a list of topics and dates, see side panel). Visitors to the site will be able to listen to the programs after they air, available on the Anger Clinic and WCKG websites. The books are available for purchase from the Anger Clinic. You can ask questions using the "contact us" link on this site, call the Anger Clinic at (312) 263-0035 or call us during the broadcast at 105.9 WCKG FREE FM: (312) 591-9254.
The concept for Anger Costs was generated November 3, 2006, when Sebastian Musso, Account Executive for 105.9 WCKG FREE FM visited Geraldine Katovich, owner and Executive Director of the Anger Clinic, to sell the idea of the clinic's staff having a call-in show similar to David Hockberg's money investment program, which airs on Saturdays. Mr. Hockberg has done incredibly well with his show and greatly increased his personal business as a result. It happens that a week earlier, one of our clients had suggested that we contact a religion-based radio station about developing an anger counseling program, but we had not been able to get any responses from that station. Sebastian's timing was quite miraculous for his and WCKG's sake.
The following Saturday, Sebastian met with the Anger Clinic team to explain how WCKG envisioned the radio program would work, the complete costs and how we could find sponsors. The Anger Clinic's team was agreeable from the start. Working with Sebastian is like child's play; he always seems to have everything under control. He tells us what to do and when to have it done, and we do what we are told to do. It could not be easier. The greatest things about Sebastian are: he is young, idealist, eager, works hard and is an all round joy to be associated with.
We have also met with WCKG executive producer Dan Falato and vice president of programming Drew Hayes in the final weeks of preparing to go on the air. Both Dan and Drew gave us invaluable information, plus rules and regulations to follow to protect both WCKG and ourselves. We hope to make our program a win-win situation, with the Anger Clinic increasing its ability to help people and WCKG increasing its public awareness. Nothing could make us happier than to see our names beside WCKG on the sides of the RTA buses as we go to work each day!
A couple of Chicago-area business professionals initially sponsored the program but wanted to remain anonymous. The Anger Clinic is incredible grateful not only for their generosity but also for their wisdom and kindness. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts and are forever grateful. The Anger Clinic needs additional funding. Contact Executive Director Geraldine Katovich at (312) 263-0035 if you are interested in becoming a sponsor. Advertisement time is available for sponsors in exchange for your generosity. We look forward to having you as listeners and urge you to call or send in your questions.
April 15 will be the final show for Anger Cost until we find a sponsor for another 13-week series or longer. We are pursuing several candidates for sponsorship but have not signed anyone yet. If you would like to sponsor Anger Cost and see us continue the momentum we have started in educating about anger issues, call the Anger Clinic and talk to the Director, Geraldine Katovich at 312.263.0035 or 105.9 WCKG FREE FM Account Exective, Sebastian Musso at 312.240.7960.
